Welcome to Our School

Welcome to Gilden Woods Commerce Township, MI, a nurturing daycare and preschool serving families throughout Walled Lake, Commerce, Wolverine Lake, Novi, White Lake, Waterford, and West Bloomfield.

We provide care for Infants, Toddlers, Twos, Preschool, Pre-K, and School-Age children, with flexible Full-time, Part-time, Drop-in Care, and Summer Camp options available. We also offer GSRP, Michigan’s free, state-funded Pre-K program, as well as enrichment programs in Music, Gymnastics, Spanish, and Soccer.

With more than 60 years of combined experience, our team is made up of CPR & First AId certified teachers and highly trained educators who hold Child Development Associate (CDA) credentials, Associate degrees in Early Childhood Education, and Bachelor degrees in Early Childhood Education. Our teachers help children build a great foundation with a meaningful approach to early education. We guide preschoolers to foster kindergarten readiness skills and a lifelong love of learning.

We provide a variety of healthy meal and snack options and encourage children to try new foods. Families love the strong sense of belonging here, where teachers, children, and parents truly feel like part of a community. Each day is filled with fun, hands-on learning experiences that spark curiosity, creativity, and confidence. Our families also enjoy access to live streaming video and real-time updates through our exclusive all-in-one family communication app, SproutAbout.

Melissa Wood, Director

Education: Early Childhood Education from Oakland Community College

I live in Howell with my husband, Tim, and our three cats: Sirius, Albus, and Bellatrix. In my spare time, you can often find me practicing archery or out on the golf course. I also enjoy reading, spending time outdoors, and making memories with family. I have been working in the field of Early Childhood Education for 19 years and discovered my passion while working my very first job in high school. From that moment on, I knew Early Childhood Education was where I was meant to be.

Victoria Tumminello, Assistant Director

Education: CDA from Western Michigan University

My name is Tori, and I have been part of the Gilden Woods Commerce family since 2019. I completed my CDA training through Western Michigan University and became Associate Director in 2022. I live in Waterford with my husband, Nick, and our two cats, Riley and Sora. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with family, collecting teapots, and playing board games. I look forward to meeting your family and sharing what makes our school such a special place.

Hi my name is Allie, and I have been working with Gilden Woods since 2019. I live in West Bloomfield with my family. In my free time I enjoy practicing my circus activities, that include hula hooping and a levitation wand. I also enjoy camping and hiking with my boyfriend and finding new places to adventure. I look forward to getting to know you and your family!
