Water Fun With S.T.E.M.

Science, technology, engineering and math, otherwise known as S.T.E.M., activities promote a sense of wonder and interest in the natural world.

Children are natural born scientists, eager to explore spaces and experiment with objects in their environment, and at AppleTree and Gilden Woods, we want to encourage and nurture this interest. Water is one of the six units of study covered in the S.T.E.M. curriculum offered at AppleTree and Gilden Woods. With the warm summer days it’s also a great way to stay cool and have fun!

Here is an example of a water activity you can try at home with your child!

This refreshing water activity allows adults to introduce new vocabulary to children such as pour, more, less, flow, splash, drip, stir, squirt and spill. Children will also learn key concepts such as; water takes the shape of its container, you can use lots of different objects to move water and how water flows downhill.
