Self-control is a learned aspect of overall emotional intelligence. Impulse control, self-regulation, and patience, are critical to living successful, calm, and stable lives. Self-control is learned through repetition, patience, and modeling. As important as it is to learn and to teach, it can be a tricky one.
From deep breathing to playful games, there are many ways to practice self-control in everyday life, teaching kids valuable lessons about how to regulate emotions so that they can hopefully avoid behavior problems as they grow.
